Kite Reflection (6-D): February 4, 2013
1. I think the color on my kite is done well because it resembles the Japanese flag.
2. I think I could've cut the shape better because it wasn't the cleanest of cuts.
3. My kite is a triangle shape with the Japanese flag on it because I thought it would be fun to do.
4. I used a triangle for the shape because it seemed easier to do.
5. The major colors in my kite are red and white because that is the colors on the Japanese flag.
6. The positives of using tyvek, tape, and dowels are that they are strong, lightweight materials. The positive of sharpies make the color pop out. The negatives of using sharpies are that you can't remove the color. Also a negative is that the tape is hard to put on the tyvek with the dowels.
7. I learned to use my time wisely to get something done on time. The concept of time can be used in life in general to use time wisely.
8. First I made preliminary designs on drawing kites. Next I made a cutout of what my kite was to look like. Next I cut the shape of the kite out in tyvek to start actually working on the kite. Next I decorated the kite with color and cut tails and a fin out. Finally I colored the tails and fin and put the kite together. It was planned out for the kite but the tails were done as I went along. Challenges I faced were trying to keep on time.
9. I thought that this was a good project. You should get better ways to color the tyvek or have the students bring in recycled materials for the kites.
